Health Challenge Results

Hold My Gatorade and Watch This / Physical Therapy & Exercise

Well my six-week health challenge officially ended. Here is my workout board I used to log my workouts.  Each little colored square is an exercise I did.  That’s a LOT for this allergic-to-heart-rate-raising-activities girl! Here are my thoughts and results from the challenge: I am super proud of myself for being pretty strong with food choices (I gave up coffee creamer for six weeks!) and also working out as much as I did. After a couple […]

Hold My Gatorade and Watch This / Physical Therapy & Exercise

I have officially graduated from physical therapy to a home program after about 10 months. What does this mean, exactly? I’m not fixed or better, but I do have a good understanding of my physical limits and I have demonstrated that I can appropriately do all of my exercises.  I earned my graduation t-shirt (in pink!) and my list of exercises.  I stopped and bought a new notebook for logging my exercises with a perfect […]

I was born and raised here in North Idaho.  I’ve always loved the lake and river.  We have had a family boat for as long as I can remember.   I learned to swim on my own when I was one, but as a toddler I was swimming end to end in any pool without a life jacket.  As far as boating, I was allowed to swim off the boat in the middle of the lake without a life […]

Super Duper Recumbent

First day back to physical therapy today since the Seattle trip of testing and adding in a new medication.  To be honest, I was kind of dreading it.  I didn’t wanna be in a hurry to get ready and leave the house all to feel like I had lost ground and I was weaker than before.  It went surprisingly well, actually.  We talked about my visit with the doctor and that ‘as recumbent as possible’ […]

The Hardest Part is Putting on Your Shoes

Deep Thoughts About POTS / Hold My Gatorade and Watch This / Physical Therapy & Exercise / Uncategorized

Back in the day I went to a workout program called Boot Camp.  I loved it.  Well love in a sweat and pain and can’t stand up from the toilet the next day kind of way.  My trainer was named John and he had all kinds of motivational wisdom that would fall out of his mouth.  He always used to say that the hardest part is putting on your shoes.  When it comes to working […]

Sick Sucks

I got through my physical therapy today.  My numbers actually did pretty well and recovered fairly quickly, but I just felt shaky, nauseas and sick and ick.  Look, the symptoms switch up and vary from day to day and it doesn’t all make sense and there isn’t enough of a true pattern for me to know what makes the shaking and chills and sweating and overall nausea and crap feeling happen.  I promise if I […]

The most amazing thing happened today at physical therapy.  For whatever reason, my numbers were just good today.  My oxygen was mid 90’s and my heart rate was doing really well, for me and my body. I was talking to my therapist and working on my hand and forearm strengthening, which by the way I moved up from the one pound to the three pound weight for wrist and forearm things.  I was asking about different cardio I could effectively and […]

Hoverboard = Fail

Physical Therapy & Exercise / Smile Makers

Today at physical therapy they let me try out a new death trap.  Yes, it’s a death trap.  One of the physical therapists has a hoverboard and they let me give it a whirl with two people holding me up.  *I particularly enjoy the other therapist in the background saying, “she has problems with balance and passes out and you think this is a good idea?!”* I think it might be similar to bowling or […]

Hold My Gatorade and Watch This / Physical Therapy & Exercise

New changes everyday.  I said goodbye to my faithful elliptical a couple days ago. I’ve logged so many hours of sweating over the last 5 years on that thing.  We’ve always had a love/hate relationship, but it was still sad to see her go. In exchange I brought home a recumbent bike! A new machine that I’ll surely soon enough develop a love/hate relationship with too. I had previously been so hesitant to make any ‘permanent’ changes […]
