Checking In

Deep Thoughts About POTS / Uncategorized

I’ve been a bit MIA from my blog.  I got my first “are you still alive” email the other day so I figured I should check in. The last few days have been rough.  I’m not ready to discuss it all yet.  I have my next live video with the Mighty in January and I’m working up the nerve to talk about it then.  Maybe. Either way, day by day, doing a little better now. […]

Bucket List Buche De Noel

Cooking with POTS & Pans

I first learned about a Yule Log cake, or a Buche De Noel in French, when I was in high school and taking French class.  We used to eat one for our French class Christmas party each year.  I took French one, two, and three so that’s three years of Buche De Noel.  Since then, I’ve always wanted to make one myself. The history of the yule log cake goes back to before the medieval era.  According […]

The Master List of Christmas Movies

Smile Makers / Uncategorized

I know that everyone is particular about their favorite holiday movies.  I enjoy my brother and his wife’s organization the most though.  They have a master list of Christmas movies and episodes that they like to watch each year.  That way whenever there’s a quiet evening they can throw in one of their favorites to watch. I like their list especially because they include TV show episodes too, which sometimes are more favorite to me […]

Cold Family Fun

If you didn’t notice, I failed to do Sunday Scattergories on Sunday.  We were busy spending time with family at my husband’s family ranch.  Five days of gorgeous snowy views, playing games, delicious food, getting the tree from the timber property and setting it up (officially known as “Tree Night” in his family). We had a nice relaxing time.  I chose some highlights to share with y’all. I love this road trip crew of mine.  […]

Tuesday Things

I know I’ve been a bit quiet for a few days.  I’m working on a post to explain our week/weekend fun.  Not to worry. On to Tuesday Things! Internet Win First up.  This was my favorite thing on the internet a few days ago.  Someone posted it onto one of the shop and swap sites I follow. Horrifying Christmas Gift I saw this while Christmas shopping online the other day.  I don’t mean to offend […]

Tuesday Things / Uncategorized

Welcome to Tuesday.  It seems like the last week went by fast. Happy 36th Anniversary Mom & Dad I have to give a quick shout out to my favorite parents who are celebrating their 36th anniversary today.  Good job raising me!  I turned out great.  Ok, that was a joke.  For real though, thanks for always being a great example of love! Do Your Friends Love Picnics? Are You a Hardcore Picnic-er? If so, then […]

Sunday Scattergories: At the Potluck

The Brain Gym

Welcome to Sunday, friends!  We made it another week! This is the time of year for many holiday parties.  Sometimes parties and church gatherings are potluck style.  Potlucks can be fun or terrifying, in my opinion.  Sometimes you get to taste the most incredible thing and you can score some great recipes.  Sometimes you don’t feel hungry suddenly. Ok, let’s use the online dice roller again today to pick your fate.  http://letterdice.iphonemarks.com/ I rolled a […]

Hockey, Teddy Bears & O2

Hockey, the Other Best Medicine / Oxygen-y Stuff

Last night was the annual Teddy Bear Toss hockey game.  Luckily Carter’s cub scout group was going so we were able to go with them and get nice close seats.  (Side note: for a true hockey fan like me, I prefer to be much higher so that I can see both ends of the ice well and watch plays develop, but close is fun sometimes too.) These games have fairly simple rules: as soon as […]

Progress? or Progress!

Deep Thoughts About POTS / Uncategorized

Progress.  If there’s one thing out there that people really want to genuinely know about, it’s progress.  That’s the question I get asked the most often.  Are you getting better?  Are you making progress?  Some people in the chronic illness world take great offense to this question.  Me, I don’t.  People desperately like a resolution and they want to hear “yes I’m getting better” or “yes I’m over that sickness.” I get it. When someone […]
