If you are here locally, Up North Distillery is offering a dollar off all drinks if you bring your I Voted sticker; and between you and me something tells me you might feel like a drink after voting.

A few fun facts on voting:

Why Tuesday?

Felonious voters: Maine and Vermont are the only states that let felons vote from prison.

The first state to reduce the age to vote to 18 from 21 was Georgia in 1943.

This is Tom and I’s second presidential election together. Aww.

Even if you don’t have Freedom leggings and sparkly blue shoes you can still go exercise your right to vote.

In the words of President Bartlett, “Decisions are made by those who show up.”

National Animals

Since I’m wearing my bald eagle leggings today anyway…

Did you know the national animal of Scotland is the unicorn?

Did you know Canada’s is the Beaver?

Most Impressive

Mental floss compiled a list of the most impressive thing in each state.

Let me share a few of my favorites…

Arizona: the only two places in the US that have mail delivered by mule are at the bottom of the grand Canyon.

Illinois: Chicago was home to the world’s first skyscraper.

Kansas: Home to a swimming pool large enough to water ski in.

Kentucky: Good old Bourbon was created here first and Kentucky is still responsible for 95% of the world’s bourbon supply.

New Jersey: if you like blueberries you can thank New Jersey. They were first domesticated in 1911 here after many farmers did not believe they could be. A farmer’s daughter made it happen using lots of wild plant combinations. If you read my blog regularly, you should know my opinions on fruit sex!
